HEAVEN ON EARTH?

Each week there is a new article about Bellingen like this one below. Some describe it as the latest “hipster” town, the article below refers to it as “the bohemian town” and some even call it “God’s country”. For those of us fortunate to call the Bellingen Shire home, it really does come close to a heaven on Earth.

It really doesn’t matter what your idea of heaven is, but you are sure to find something that comes pretty close living here. Just last weekend a pod of dolphins were surfing the next set of waves to us at the beach. This weekend both young and old enjoyed celebrating the Centenary of the Coffs Railway with a ride on an orginial steam train. If you were lucky enough to catch Sunday At The Pictures at the Bellingen Memorial Hall you may have caught a glimpse of the ladies dressing up for an afternoon at the cinema, or you may have joined in the fun of our very own paper plane throwing competition before the screening of the movie Paper Planes.

With Spring nearly upon us, the weather is almost perfect. We are gearing up for Toast Urunga this coming Sunday for Father’s Day and then Rally Australia the following weekend where hopefully the township of Bellingen will play host to a pit stop as it has done in past years. There is so much excitement hearing the rumble of those rally engines cruising through town.

Bellingen town and it’s surrounding neighbours really do cater for all walks of life and all age groups. Whether you are sporty or laidback, cultured or casual, musical or a foodie there is something for everyone. It’s no wonder that the area is attracting more and more people from the city who want a better quality of life without the hustle, bustle and traffic, and a more laid back lifestyle in breathtaking surrounds.
